Anyone who knows me for any length of time knows that I have been, and continue to be a huge, HUGE fan of the spy/international assassin genre in film and television. I was reading The Bourne Identity novels back when I was in my early teens (my Dad had them all and I borrowed them.) Don’t get me started on The Bourne books, though – the books are very different and have far better and longer stories.
I saw the preview for BBC One’s Killing Eve several weeks ago and I’ve been chomping at the bit ever since. I finally watched it On Demand last night and oh! be still my beating heart! It’s incredible. I love Sandra Oh in this and Jodie Comer is amazing. It has EVERYTHING I love – smart women, women-as-spies, an international setting, French, Italian (and other languages), and a very cool soundtrack. I’ve been pre-mourning the end of The Americans, but Killing Eve is the perfect show to help me move on.
