Editing Translations (ACES)
L801 Introduction to Translation Theory & Practice (Open University)
For as long as I can remember, I’ve never not been learning a language. Spanish and French are my strongest languages, and I can translate to English. I’ll be taking the Spanish DELE and the French DELF language proficiency exams in early 2020.
I can read intermediate German texts and have a solid grasp of German grammar, and am familiar with or conversational in: Italian, Czech, and Russian.
In 2004, I took an intensive, month-long TESOL/TEFL certification course through Oxford TEFL in Prague, Czech Republic. I worked in Prague from 2004-2007 teaching English to professional adults and editing texts for nonnative English speakers. I primarily worked with Czech speakers but also with some Bulgarian, French, Russian, and Slovak. I taught a variety of beginner through advanced courses, including English proficiency exam preparation, conversation and writing, and business English.
My ESL/EFL (English as a Second/Foreign Language) editing work included business and professional documentation, academic writing, technical writing, and personal writing.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
