I haven’t posted any pictures in ages, though I’ve been taking thousands. And I still have to post about my incredible Michelin Star restaurant/Spain experience… Sigh.
And there was Thanksgiving – we picked up our pastured turkey at the farm (it had just been killed and processed super early that morning). Of course, the gizzards were in a baggie inside the turkey… what I didn’t expect was to find the NECK, as well!
Look at the neck. Tell me that doesn’t remind you of anything else…? *snort*
I roasted up the turkey, saved the drippings and made gravy. I also made maple whipped sweet potatoes, roasted pears & red onion, stuffing, cranberry sauce from scratch, and pumpkin pie completely from scratch -I made the crust, I roasted a sugar pie pumpkin and everything. Every single thing at our table was from the farmer’s market. The stuffing was made from bread from a small, local bakery that I go to every Sunday after the Ballard Farmer’s Market. I would have liked to have made more stuff, but there’s only the 3 of us, so… we were still set for leftovers for awhile.
