TODAY begins my new year celebration, so to speak. Today is my birthday and I’ll happily tell you that I’m 35. THIRTY FIVE! Wow. When I was in my 20s, I truly couldn’t wait to be 30. My 20s sucked. Granted, that “living in Europe” thing was pretty great, but overall, I was happy to leave my 20s behind. My 30s, so far, are incredible.
I finally posted about our Michelin -Star restaurant lunch (in San Sebastien) over on my “The Recovered Vegetarian” blog. And now I have to work on writing up my birthday dinner at The Herb Farm restaurant. OH MY GOD. This place is a serious foodie destination of the Pacific Northwest. 9 course tasting menu – the “menu for redheads” had just begun, very apropos for me. (That simply means an all red-wine winter menu.)
I also just got news that there’s a very strong possibility of a friend moving to Seattle with he husband, and a not so strong possibility (but still a possibility!) of another friend moving here with her soon-to-be (Chilean) husband.
I just finished up a “beginning sewing: bag” class at Stitches and have the confidence to begin all my project ideas – first up, new bedding for the guestroom and our bedroom (duvet covers, pillow cases, bed skirts, etc). I’m not at all afraid of my new sewing machine anymore! I also plan on making curtains, underwear (that’s another post altogether), clothes for Nugget, all sorts of stuff for the house, hemming pants, etc. The sky is the limit. I should also finally be taking the postpartum Doula certification course soon and am talking to University of Washington about finishing up my English lit degree in their nighttime program. Though my heart lies in farms and food.. I’m seriously considering asking to do an internship or just volunteer at one of my favorite farms once a week or so…
Happy new year, happy birthday, indeed.
