I started following a hundred million things related to Sweden on Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook, etc because we almost moved to Sweden. (We obviously didn’t nor are we in the process and I am shocked – shocked! – to say that I am relieved. More on that in another post.)
It seems I’m going to have to change the format of this site again – I thought I was going to focus on pictures and keep it brief but there’s been some big! exciting! changes! concerning my studies at UW and I’m coming back to writing. I’ve tracked down all my old “blog posts” from my past 13 years of blogging (I was blogging before blogging was a thing, ya know) and have been slowly sorting them into a virtual pile of “publish on current blog under category ‘ancient history‘ and “keep hidden away forever.” The “ancient history” is about comparing past to current experience and realizing that regardless of how very much my life circumstances and how I express myself have changed, there are some pretty basic, fundamental things that are just me and don’t change. (Fun things. Things that only in hindsight am I able to appreciate and understand as I weave my way through this new University experience.)
But that’s more stuff for more posts!
Generally, I am the first person to defend Seattle weather – Winter is usually mild, it doesn’t actually rain that much… but this year. THIS YEAR… *shakes fist* I can’t defend a thing. It’s been rough. Pretty much as soon as Fall arrived, the rain started and the sun disappeared. Not misty, gentle rain and the occasional drizzle but NONSTOP DOWNPOURS. I had always continued to walk and run in rain. Even when I visit my parents in PA over Winter I still run in snow and freezing temps. Right now, however, you could not pay me to take a walk or go running in this weather. (To be fair… if I dared to go running in the woods as usual, I or the dog would probably get knocked out by falling branches. Have you heard about the wind in Seattle? It’s much more a thing than rain is. Usually.) For now, I leave you with this entertaining Tumblr post which pretty accurately describes how I feel right now… and pretty much the entire past few months.
