“bottle-feeding mimics child loss”

April 30, 2010 By Nikki Leave a Comment

A friend just pointed me to a whole series of articles about the mother/baby bond from Scientific American.  The first one I read is this one, about how “bottle-feeding mimics child loss in women’s brains.”

I found this one particularly interesting, thinking about a previous rant of mine, regarding  women who CHOOSE to pump exclusively over breastfeeding because, you know, babies take too long to eat and it’s “inconvenient” and such.

I, personally, felt pretty down about not being able to breastfeed – I really enjoyed being pregnant and breastfeeding was sort of a way to continue that feeling, or have a few moments of it still being just he & I.  “Loss” would definitely be a good way to describe it.
