poop

On a lighter note.

Yesterday, I found myself in the bathroom putting on a rubber glove to flick poop off of a cloth diaper, into the toilet.  I am still thoroughly dedicated to our use of cloth diapers – for the past… I don’t know how long… 9 months? – we use only 7 disposable diapers per week.  (We use them only overnight, because the cloth diapers do leak after a certain point and I’d rather he not be laying in wet spots all over his mattress & clothes all night.) Without a doubt, it was far easier when he wasn’t eating all solids.

Ahem.

It has not been fun, the twice a day poopy diapers.  No way, no how.  But I’m stickin’ to it. Actually, what I finally decided, yesterday, after donning rubber gloves to get the diaper clean enough to put in the pail (we have diaper liners, but the poops these days to not constrain themselves to the paper liner area) is that it’s time to dedicate myself to trying elimination communication.  I used to think it was crazy, then I talked to people who do it – including a close friend.  I wish I’d tried earlier – but if/when we have a second one, I’m definitely going to try it from the very beginning.  We’ll see how it goes from 1 year, for now.
