I’m afraid to jinx it, but I may have gotten some good news. Good enough that I can continue to look forward to Costa Rica and hopefully I will be going to the Institute for Central American Studies in October. It’s not the school where I can sleep on the beach and take surfing lessons, but I’m happy just the same. ICAD seems like a serious school, where I will be able to take Latin Dance lessons, spend 4 hours a day in Spanish language immersion classes, do volunteer work (if I choose, which I do), attend lectures about social/environmental/world issues and stay with a Costa Rican family (which will ensure my Spanish is well-practiced). It’s a bona fide institute for learning and the cost is pretty damn good (for 4 weeks, accomodations, food, airport pick up, etc).

I want this. I really want this.
