Stonehenge!

There is a full scale replica of the Stonehenge right here in Washington State. I found out about it several years ago and have been dying to see it. This past holiday weekend, we finally drove out to Goldendale to check it out. It was a three and a half hour drive from Seattle and boy, was it ever worth it. I’m serious – the view from the hilltop where it’s located is incredible. It’s situated on a hilltop overlooking the Columbia River, and right across the river is Bend, Oregon. We had left late in the day and arrived as the sun was setting. We decided that we need to return and make a day trip of it – leave early in the morning, have a picnic at Stonehenge, let the Kid climb all over the hill for awhile, and scope out the area. Perhaps next time we’ll drive across to Bend and head home through Portland.

I took many pictures, as usual. I was kicking myself for not taking my DSLR, but I did a pretty good job with just my phone, yeah? You can see all the photos here.

Ah, yes… and if you’re curious what in Sam Hill a replica of the Stonehenge is doing in Washington, you can read about it here. We also want to go back to check out the museum.
